GN 3 Phase Decanter Centrifuge for Waste Oil Recovery

Keeping improving is the major feature of GN Solids Control, and this could be proved by the continuously issued new products in GN’s line sheet. Just shortly before, GN published the 3 phase decanter centrifuge on the official website to tell customers that GN is able to provide this type decanter centrifuge which is very popularly used for recovering the waste oil.
The slurry treated by the 3 phase decanter centrifuge is consisting of two kinds of immiscible liquid, always water and oil, and solid. The 3 phases need have different density so that the centrifuge could separate much easier, as all the horizontal decanter centrifuges are separating the phases by centrifugal force.
GN’s 3 phase decanter centrifuge structure is not big different with 2 phase model. The difference is how the liquids discharged out of the centrifuge. The solids in the slurry should have much higher density than the liquid, and then the solids could be easily separated out, which will increase the efficiency of the separation process. Higher density liquid will be discharged out under the pressure, while the light liquid will flow out from the liquid discharge ports at the bowl end face.

3 phase decanter centrifuge is mainly used in separation of oil sludge containing oil from refineries. Oil refineries have many holding tanks for oil need cleaned regularly, always the operator will used high pressure water to flush the bottom of the mud tank, and this type mixed slurry is the main source of the material treated by the 3 phase decanter centrifuge. Some other industries like food industry, edible oil production, biofuel production etc will also widely use 3 phase decanter centrifuge.

HDD Mud Recycling System with Decanter Centrifuge

HDD drilling is short for horizontal directional drilling project, it is widely used for the pipeline work for the oil and gas transporting and etc. Normally, the drilling mud recycled from the HDD machine is to be reserved in a mud pit and the mud cleaning system, which is used to treat the mud to be next time use, treats the drilling mud from the pit and storage the well done mud in the tanks.
Equipment needed for the HDD mud recycling system:
In a traditional HDD mud recycling system, there arenormally 3 phase of separation equipmentincluding shale shaker, desander cones, desilter cones and mud mixing unit for adding new chemicals into the drilling mud, normally 2 jet mixing hoppers and mixing pumps. But now, as the environment demands and the cost pressure for the contractors are becoming more and more important, a lot of HDD contractors are taking decanter centrifuge into consideration in order to get better separation result and lower the mud weight.

GNLW452C or GNLW452C-VFD is a very suitable model of decanter centrifuge to be used for the HDD mud recycling system. It is big bowl centrifuge of 18 inch bowl diameter and the speed of 1800 RPM is efficient for the HDD works, in China, the largest HDD contractor CPP, always use GNLW452 in their mud cleaning systems.
The centrifuge feed pump could transfer the mud from the storage tank to the centrifuge and after the separation, the mud could directly fall back to the same tank, cycling like this helps to reduce the mud weight. Or, there could be another storage tank to collect the drilling fluid from the centrifuge.
